Danish PhD students do have to register, but they are not required to pay the registration fee in order to attend the Summer School. For registration without payment, please contact us at inspire@hum.ku.dk.
How to pay
Payment is available with credit card: Mastercard, Maestro, VISA and JCB.
Transactions are protected by 3D Secure Code to ensure the safety of your information. All Danish credit cards are automatically compatible with 3D Secure Code. If your card is not compatible with 3D Secure Code, you will receive an error message stating either “Mastercard secure” or “verified by Visa”. In this case you must contact your bank in order to have 3D Secure Code attached to your credit card.
If you have any further questions regarding payment, please write us at inspire@hum.ku.dk.
Registration criteria
The Summer School is primarily for PhD students but is also open to advanced MA students, and postdocs in philosophy or related fields.
NB: From spring 2023 the Danish universities do not accept visitors or students with financing from CSC (Chinese Scholarship Council). The reason is that the terms of the contracts that CSC scholarship holders must sign compromise their working and living conditions and are inconsistent with academic freedom as it is understood at Danish universities.
Submit an abstract or motivation statement
When registering, you must also submit an abstract if you wish to be considered for one of the eight slots for giving a presentation and thereby earning an additional 1.5 ECTS credits. If you do not wish to be considered for a presentation, you may instead submit a motivation statement. All participants must submit either an abstract or a motivation statement in order to be accepted to the Summer School.
The abstract should not exceed 300 words and must outline the topic of the 20-minute presentation to be given on the last day of the summer school. It should establish a clear connection to the Summer School's topics and questions.
The motivation statement should briefly explain why you are applying to the Summer School and what you hope to gain from it (maximum 300 words).
The deadline for submitting an abstract is 1 June 2025.
How to submit an abstract or motivation statement
- Send an email with your abstract or motivation included as an attachment (acceptable formats: .doc, .docx, .rtf, and .pdf). Please name the document "your.name_Abstract/motivation Summer School 2026."
- Make sure that the subject line of the email reads: “Abstract/motivation Copenhagen Summer School 2026”
- Address the email to inspire@hum.ku.dk.
NB! Please ensure that you register via the link and submit either an abstract or a motivation statement by email. Your application will not be considered until we have received both items and your payment.
