Research projects

INSPIRE promotes cutting-edge interdisciplinary research to uncover and emphasize the philosophical contributions of women across historical periods. Our research includes the exploration of neglected texts and marginalized voices, the investigation of the intellectual accomplishments of women philosophers, and critical reflections on the representation of women philosophers and on historiographical categories. 

Women in the Nordic Enlightenment (WHENCE)

The overall objective of WHENCE is to uncover and critically assess women’s intellectual contribution to the Nordic Enlightenment.

How to be Happy in Times of Turmoil?

The project provides the first edition of Birgitte Thott’s (1610-1662) Neo-stoic treatise ‘On the path to a happy life’.

Archeology of the Female Intellectual Identity (AFII)

The project investigates the formation of the female intellectual identity during the Early Modern period.
